In addition to the regular Intensive English Program available throughout the year at specific times, the English Language Institute offers highly flexible programs for groups at times that they find convenient. The ELI Special Programs are constructed according to needs expressed by universities or agencies organizing group visits. These programs follow academically strict but highly flexible guidelines established by the Institute. Availability of these programs is based upon availability of faculty at the ELI.
Programs may consist of standard courses in conversation, reading, writing, and grammar, or they may include an array of offerings that include but are not limited to:
Courses are designed upon request. Our goal is to design the program that can best fit your schedule. You need only inform us of your needs and we will formulate the program that is best suited to you.
In the recent past, most special programs have operated for 20 to 30 hours per week for two to four weeks. The following is an example of a program for a group of 15 immigration lawyers from Brazil. Each day was set up to include the following courses.
Students can enjoy visits to local museums, parks, and gardens or travel to famous beaches and tourist attractions such as Walt Disney World, St. Augustine, Cape Canaveral, Sea World, Silver Springs, Busch Gardens, and Universal Studios. Students can also get involved in the fitness and outdoor activities of Gainesville, an athlete, sport enthusiast and sports fan haven, with multiple facilities, health fitness centers, and a year-round outdoors tradition.
Arrangements for housing and dining are made by the Institute through the Special Program Coordinator. Depending on the extent of amenities required, costs for a week's housing and meals range from $350 - $900 per person (single occupancy room).
Individual students should apply for admission to the regular Intensive English Program. Customized programs tailored for groups from partner universities, partner language programs, governmental organizations, and NGOs can be developed according to the following fee structure:
